Day 1: San Jose The Capital Of “Pura Vida” (Pure Life) Nation

.Our journey begins in San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica. We will embark on a walking tour of the center of San Jose, starting at the important and popular Plaza de la Cultura, admiring the notable Teatro Nacional building, and exploring museums and markets. In the afternoon, we will drive and walk to a great panoramic viewpoint of the city and surroundings. Day 2: Volcano Poas National Park

We will start our day with a visit to the iconic Volcán Poás overlooking the Central Valley. First thing in the morning, we will drive to Volcán Poás to visit the national park and peer into Poás's smoking crater lake. Thereafter, we will explore the magnificent La Paz Waterfall Gardens and other attractions. We will visit the Doka Estate for a coffee tour. At the end of the day, we will return to the capital. Day 3: Irasu Volcano And Orosi Valley

We will depart from San Jose and visit Volcán Irazú, the largest active volcano in Costa Rica. Next, we will head towards the historical colonial old capital of Cartago, which was partially destroyed in the 18th century by the eruption of Irazú Volcano. We will explore the main monuments of the city. From there, we will continue driving to the picturesque Orosi Valley, adorned with coffee plantations on its volcanic slopes. We will then drive along the highest part of the legendary Pan-American Highway to reach the magical San Gerardo de Dote area. Day 4: San Gerardo De Dote And Manuel Antonio National Park

Today we will explore Costa Rica’s highlands with their unique fauna and flora. We will start at the magical San Gerardo de Dota, looking for the elusive and beautiful quetzal in the dense cloud forest of Cerro de la Muerte, and then head south to the Central Pacific Shore. We will explore the beautiful trails of the famous Manuel Antonio National Park and its surroundings, hoping to see several species of monkeys and a wide variety of birds. In the afternoon, we will stroll along the picturesque beaches near the park. Day 5: Along The Central Pacific Coast And Up To Monteverde

The region of the Central Pacific Coast was historically, until the 1960s, a banana-producing area and later an oil-palm plantation region. We will drive along the coast and stop for a visit to Hermosa Beach, then visit the Royal Butterfly Center nearby to learn about the life cycles of butterflies. On our way to Monteverde, we will stop at the Crocodile Bridge over the Tarcoles River to observe American crocodiles. Then we will head north, climbing the mountains to Santa Elena village and Monteverde in the heart of the cloud forest. When night falls, we will take a guided night tour at the Curi-Cancha Private Reserve to see nocturnal animals. Royal Butterfly Center - A sanctuary where you can observe colorful butterflies Hermosa Beach - Known for its golden sands, surf-friendly waves & vibrant beach Crocodile Bridge - Observe large American crocodiles in their natural habitat Overnight in a 4 star hotel in Monteverde area.


Day 6: Monteverde Cloud Forest

We will spend the first part of the day exploring Monteverde Cloud Forest, located on a tropical mountain ridge, and enjoy adventure activities and other attractions. Then we will make our way to Lake Arenal, stopping along the route for panoramic viewpoints and some great local coffee. We will finish our day with a local dinner prepared by a chef. Day 7: Hiking The Nature Of Arenal Volcano Area

We'll dedicate most of our day to exploring the wild nature of Arenal Volcano National Park, mainly on foot. Arenal Volcano National Park is one of Costa Rica’s most iconic natural destinations, centered around the striking Arenal Volcano, which rises dramatically above the surrounding rainforest. The park offers a variety of well-maintained trails that wind through lush tropical landscapes, past lava fields, and along rivers and waterfalls. Hiking Trails by Distance and Walking Pace - Of your choice: Hanging Bridges Hiking Trail: La Roca Bistró → Hanging Bridges → La Roca Bistró Distance & Duration: ~3 km, 1–1.5 hours Highlights: Walk through the canopy of the rainforest and see diverse plant and animal species, including monkeys, toucans, sloths & tropical birds. Volcano Arenal Lake Hiking Trail: Arenal Ecologic Park → Volcano Arenal Lake → Arenal Ecologic Park Distance & Duration: ~5 km, 2–2.5 hours Highlights: A scenic reservoir located at the base of Arenal Volcano, known for its panoramic views & tranquil atmosphere. El Silencio Viewpoint Hiking Trail: Parking → Volcano Craters → El Silencio Viewpoint → Parking Distance & Duration: ~5.5 km, 2–2.5 hours Highlights: A scenic trail through lush forest, historic lava fields, volcano craters, and a viewpoint with impressive panoramic views of the volcano. Chato Lake Crater Hiking Trail: Reserve Entrance → Chato Lake Crater → Reserve Entrance Distance & Duration: ~7.5 km, 4–4.5 hours Highlights: A challenging and rewarding hike leading to the rim of the extinct Cerro Chato volcano, with stunning views of an emerald-green crater lake. Waterfalls & Ponds Hiking Trail: Observatory Lodge → Waterfalls & Ponds → Observatory Lodge Distance & Duration: ~8 km, 2.5–3 hours Highlights: A peaceful hike through lush rainforest to a series of small waterfalls and natural pools, offering a scenic and refreshing experience. Day 8: Rafting On The Sarapiqui River & The Maleku Tribe

We will start our day with an adventurous rafting trip on the Sarapiquí River. We will then drive north to the San Rafael de Guatuso Indigenous Reserve and get acquainted with the Maleku Tribe, of Mesoamerican descent and one of the smallest and most endangered tribes in Costa Rica, numbering only about 600 people. We will learn about the tribe’s history, traditional medicine, arts, and crafts. At the end of the day, we will drive back to the Volcano Arenal area. Day 9: La Fortuna Fall And Back To San Jose

.We will start our journey back towards the Central Valley and San Jose. We will visit the majestic La Fortuna Falls and, on our way back to San Jose, take a chocolate tour at Don Olivo Farm to learn about cacao cultivation and chocolate production.
