Jour 1 : Envol et Arrivée à San José

Envol à destination de San José sur la compagnie aérienne régulière. Arrivée à l’aéroport international de San José. Accueil par votre guide francophone. Principal centre urbain du Costa Rica, l'agglomération de San José atteint 1,4 million d'habitants, soit 35% de la population totale du pays. Ayant conservé peu de bâtiments coloniaux, San José possède un certain charme, dû surtout à l'accueil très agréable de ses habitants, les « ticos ». Transfert à l’hôtel. Installation à l’hôtel. Dîner libre et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 2 : San José - Irazu - Cartago - San José

Petit-déjeuner à l’hôtel. Départ vers la zone de Cartago, ensuite vous allez profiter aussi d’une visite du Parc National Volcan Irazú. Ce Volcan actif qui se trouve à 3432 mètres d’altitude, vous pourrez profiter d’une promenade au cratère et si la journée est dégagée, vous pourrez avoir une merveilleuse vue des deux océans (Atlantique et Pacifique). Continuation avec la petite ville de Cartago première capitale du pays créée en 1562. Elle est aujourd’hui la capitale religieuse grâce à la « Basilica de nuestra Señora de los Angeles », la plus célèbre église du pays, siège de Notre-Dame des Anges, la sainte patronne du Costa Rica, célébrée avec grande ferveur chaque année le 2 août. Ce sanctuaire au style byzantin et mauresque, reconstruit en 1926, impressionne par ses volumes et l’harmonie de ses décors en bois. Route dans la vallée d’Orosi, l’un des plus jolis paysages que peut offrir le Costa Rica, au vert vif que la lumière semble encore vivifier, souvent grâce aux variations des feuilles de caféiers. Déjeuner en cours de route. Dîner libre. Nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 3 : San José - Sarchi - La Fortuna – Arenal (4h de route)

Petit déjeuner à l’hôtel. En cours de route pour la capitale vous visiterez le village typique de Sarchí. Ce village est le siège de l’artisanat costaricien qui offre aux visiteurs des travaux élaborés avec des bois précieux de la zone, considéré presque un arrêt obligatoire pour les voyageurs pour y admirer ses peintures multicolores. Visitez Grecia, la ville la plus propre du Costa Rica, et découvrez le mode de vie des Costariciens Grecia, qui est considérée comme « la ville la plus propre du Costa Rica » est située à 20 km au nord-ouest d’Alajuela et à 45 km au nord-ouest de San José. Partez à la découverte de l'exceptionnelle Église de las Mercedes au style fin-de-siècle et curieusement bâtie avec des métaux rougeâtres. À l’intérieur vous pourrez admirer le bel autel qui deviendra l’objet de votre admiration à cause de son style baroque à l’Amérique latine. L’autel est fabriqué en marbre et s’élève vers le plafond avec l’apparence d’un gâteau de mariage. Déjeuner dans un restaurant local et route pour Arenal.

Jour 4 : La Fortuna - Cano Negro - Arenal (2h de route env.) *

Petit déjeuner à l’hôtel. Départ vers la région nord du pays.

Vous allez vivre l'aventure d'une excursion en bateau à Caño Negro. - Refuge National de la Vie Sauvage. Caño Negro, reconnu pour son incroyable diversité, est le passage obligatoire pour les oiseaux venus du Nord de l’Amérique. Il est aussi considéré la troisième zone humide la plus importante au monde, ce sanctuaire a été nommé en 1991 une « zone humide d’importance Internationale ».

Vous visiterez l’habitat de nombreux poissons, reptiles et des plantes. Vous pourrez y voir la cigogne jabiru qui est une des espèces d'oiseau les plus grands de la région, le pluvier noir-gonflé et le cormoran du néo tropique. Ce dernier est l’oiseau prédominant de cet endroit. Caño Negro est connu pour être la zone avec plus d’espèces de cormorans du pays.

Déjeuner au restaurant Retour à Arenal.

Dîner dans un restaurant et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 5 : La Fortuna – Arenal - Rincon de la Vieja (3h de route env.)

Petit déjeuner à l’hôtel. Matinée consacrée à la visite du Parc 1968, randonnée sur la première éruption de cette même année. C’est sans nul doute le meilleur point de vue lorsque le volcan est dégagé. Il surplombe le Parc National Arenal et il y est facile d’y observer la riche nature qui entoure le volcan. Sa principale caractéristique est le cône majestueux, presque parfait, à une altitude de 1 670 pieds.

Départ vers Guanacaste qu’est la région la plus à l’ouest du Costa Rica, belle région sèche, aride qui abrite le bouillonnant Parc National Rincón de Vieja. A seulement 45 minutes de Liberia, l’une de plus grandes villes du pays, ce Parc National a été inscrit au patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO en 1999. C’est une étape incontournable du pays !

Déjeuner dans un restaurant typique en cours de route. Arrivée dans la zone du Parc National Rincón de la Vieja.

Dîner et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 6 : Rincon de la Vieja

Petit déjeuner à l’hôtel Départ matinal pour la visite du Parc National du volcan Rincón de la Vieja. Marche dans la vaste étendue du parc, splendeur géologique rare de notre planète. La terre s’ouvre en cratères bouillonnants qui témoignent de l’activité actuelle du volcan. Le paysage, très contrasté, intègre une forêt tropicale épaisse peuplée par des singes-hurleurs et riche en diversité de végétation.

Déjeuner. Continuation de la randonnée dans les sentiers du lodge.

Dîner et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 7 : Rincon de la Vieja - Monteverde (2h30 de route env.)

Petit-déjeuner à l’hotel. Départ pour Monteverde, connue pour sa grande diversité et son exubérante forêt nuageuse.

Vous partirez à la découverte du processus de la production de café dans la plantation Don Juan. Cultivé dans des sols volcaniques à 1 300 m d’altitude, votre guide vous donnera plus d’informations sur ce produit dont le Costa Rica est si fier. Café, chocolat et canne à sucre où nous apprendrons tout le processus de ces 3 produits importants.

Déjeuner.Enfin, promenade dans le petit village de Santa Elena, réputé pour sa production de fromage.

Dîner et nuit à l’hôtel.

Jour 8 : Monteverde - San José (2h40 de route env.)

Petit déjeuner à l’hôtel Découverte matinale de la Réserve Biologique de Monteverde qui abrite une importante variété d’oiseaux et d’animaux amphibies. Promenade sur les sentiers aménagés au cœur de la forêt de nuages. Nous partons de Monteverde en direction de San José. Nota : Nous ne prévoyons aucune visite ce jour-ci étant donné le côté aléatoire de la circulation pour rejoindre la capitale (état des routes, travaux, traffic...)
